Cover of "Y.M.C.A." written by Jacques Morali and Victor Willis. Released as a single by Village People from their album "Cruisin'" on 09 October 1978. It was produced by Jacques Morali. The song reached #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the UK Singles chart, making it the group's biggest hit single -- selling 12 million copies worldwide. In 2024, 46 years after its release, it spent six weeks at #1 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart. In 2020, it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and selected by the US Library of Congress for preservation in the National Registry for being "culturally, historically and aesthetically significant." It was a #1 hit in 17 countries. It was certified Gold in Denmark, France, Germany, Italy and Spain; 2 x Platinum in Canada and New Zealand and Platinum in the Netherlands, UK and the US.
